  1. Getting Wheezy Beta running on the Raspberry Pi from OS X

July 11, 2012 by The Man

Download the beta. Pop in your card

    sudo dd bs=1m if=wheezy.img of=/dev/disk1

where wheezy.img is the unzipped image file – I renamed because I am lazy and there is less typing involved 🙂

/dev/disk1 is the name of the SD card without the s1.

It does take AGES to write.

You can also update the firmware by grabbing it from here and following instructions here.

  2. Cannot Ctrl Click & Open apps downloaded to OS X

June 19, 2012 by The Man

Ok if you have Allow Applications set to Mac App Store and trusted developers you can usually just ctrl click and press open to get round opening untrusted apps.

This didn’t work with the latest beta of Mountain Lion but there is a quick workaround. Simply set to Anywhere, open the app then set back to App Store and trusted developers.

  3. Thunderbolt Gigabyte Ethernet Adapter in action

June 15, 2012 by The Man

Well the postman arrived this morning and the last piece holding me off retiring the MBP arrived.

The Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter, yes it works, yes it really was plug and go. About a minute and a half for a 800Mb file over a 100Mb switch. Seems perfect and only a little cpu spike.

Well worth it. Off to reboot into Windows now and see what happens 🙂

No there are no drivers for Windows 7 so it doesn’t work – and as a byproduct it knocked out the wifi for a bit as well.

  5. Get rid of the dock icon for Skydrive on OS X

April 24, 2012 by The Man
