  1. Upload files to OneDrive for Business from OS X Mac

December 13, 2014 by The Man

Well while we wait for Microsoft to come out with an official app for OneDrive for Business on the Mac there is at least a way to upload files to your 1TB of free space.

The best way I’ve found so far is to use the super Transmit from Panic. It really is a multi purpose tool and great for all kinds of remote connections.

Setting up is easy, just log into your Office 365 account on the web and go to your OneDrive for Business page. Copy the url which will be something like https://yourdomain-my.sharepoint.com/personal/yourname_yourdomain_com/Documents. It may have some extra on the end but just don’t copy that.

Open up Transmit and click add to add a new favourite and simply paste the url and Transmit will do the rest for you. Add your username and password and away you go.

One note of caution uploading to OneDrive is very poor but that is a server side issue so be prepared for some frustration. Also there is, at this time, a limit of 100mb per file so anything bigger will upload… then fail – yes that’s not annoying much after waiting for a 700mb file to upload.

    Update

Yes it seemed to easy…. if you get a 403 error “Access Denied” it’s not that you have the wrong password it’s because you need to Authenticate and stay signed in to OneDrive. So if you haven’t logged in, go to the login and where you put your password make sure you tick “Keep me signed in”. You can read more here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2616712

I can only guess this is Microsoft’s crude way of blocking you from using your 1TB as a backup as oddly they also sell Azure backup yet you cannot use with your free space.
